The QRZ Ham Radio CDROM Volume 21 - Summer 2003 Copyright © 2003 by QRZ.COM, All Rights Reserved Compiled and Produced by Fred Lloyd, AA7BQ aa7bq@qrz.com http://www.qrz.com INSTALLATION Quick Start Instructions: First, you need to make sure that the QRZ CDROM software is installed on your computer.  The easiest way to do this is to open the CDROM by clicking on the My Computer icon on your desktop.  Next, Click on the QRZ CDROM to open it and then click on the file SETUP.EXE to begin your installation.  When asked if you want 16-bit or 32-bit software, always select 32-bit (unless you have Windows 3.1). If you are upgrading from a previous version of the QRZ CDROM, you can simply insert this disc into your CDROM drive and begin using it as the search software is the same as in the previous version. Installing the QRZ CDROM data on your hard drive: For faster access, you can install the QRZ data files on your hard drive.  The data files may be installed on any hard disk on your system however they must be installed in a folder named \CALLBK as in C:\CALLBK, D:\CALLBK, etc..  The CALLBK folder may not be placed inside any other folder and must be installed in the root of the selected hard drive.  You'll need about 550 mb of disk space to copy everything (data and pictures). The procedure is quite simple.  All that needs to be done to copy the folder \CALLBK from the CDROM to your hard drive.  You can do this using the File Manager (Windows Explorer), or, by using the handy CDINST.BAT batch file located on the CD.   Note, do not copy the whole CDROM to the \CALLBK folder, just the CDROM's \CALLBK folder. You may, at your option, omit the pictures and save about 240 mb.  Just don't copy the \CALLBK\GIFS folder if you're short on disk space.
